Research Interests

Steven's current work is about many things, but mostly it’s about ephemerality and consistency, transience and permanence, activity and rest, scanning, and seeing.

By activating and contrasting distinct substrates that each are encoded with rich histories as information vessels, he hopes to challenge notions of mark-making, graphic design, and art. This manifests as intimate objects made from video and engraved or laser-cut paper.
