First-Year Students

Admitted full-time undergraduate first-year students are automatically considered for a renewable merit scholarship. You will be notified at the time of admission of any Dominican academic merit scholarship eligibility. A separate application is not required.

Fall 2019 - Spring 2020 First-Year Merit Scholarships

Presidential Scholarship $22,000 per year 3.50 - 3.84
Deans Scholarship $19,000 per year 3.20 - 3.49
Dominican Scholarship $17,000 per year 3.00 - 3.19

The above scholarships are awarded to new first-year students admitted for the corresponding academic years. Eligibility is based on a student's weighted high school GPA. Annual scholarship amounts are divided in half between the Fall and Spring semesters. Scholarships are not awarded for the Summer semester.

Scholarship Renewal Policy

Scholarships can be renewed for subsequent years of study with the University. First-year student scholarships are renewable for three additional academic years after the first year (maximum eligibility of 8 semesters total).  Renewal criteria includes full-time undergraduate enrollment (minimum 12 units per semester) and maintaining a minimum cumulative grade point average as listed below:

  • Trustee Scholarship: minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Presidential Scholarship: minimum 2.7 cumulative GPA
  • Deans Scholarship: minimum 2.7 cumulative GPA
  • Dominican Scholarship: minimum 2.4 cumulative GPA

In addition to meeting the minimum cumulative GPA, to maintain Institutional aid eligibility, students must also meet Federal SAP eligibility.

The following renewable scholarships are also available:

2019-2020 Alemany Achievement Award

  • $12,000 per year tuition award
  • Based on academic achievement and other criteria
  • Awarded by the Office of Admissions

Marin Teachers of Color Scholarship

  • Established by anonymous donors
  • Must be an Education Studies major
  • Junior or Senior working on credential coursework
  • Under-served, African-American and/or Latinex students living in Marin County
  • Intend to teach in a Marin County Public School following graduation

Music Scholarship

  • Limited partial tuition scholarships
  • Must be a music major at Dominican (double majors included!)
  • Audition required

Honors Scholarship

  • Limited competitive awards
  • Must be admitted to honors program
  • $3,000 per year
  • Must maintain a cumulative 3.5 GPA
