Academically, Calum MacKechnie’s areas of expertise are applied linguistics and higher education leadership. His work at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI)  involves coordinating academic programs for older adults. OLLI arranges various lecture series throughout the year, liaising with faculty from Marin County and the entire Bay Area. The courses are in various academic disciplines, including history, literature, art history, film studies, current events, and science. Apart from coordinating programs, Calum plays an active role in budgeting, marketing, and strategic planning for the Institute. His past experience has been focused on directing international student programs at various universities, including UC Davis, York University in Toronto, the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, and the University of Waikato in New Zealand.
