Howard’s Campaigns and Elections class hosted three California "Voter Information" sessions on October 10, October 15, and October 17, 2018.

Students discussed ballot measures for the November election. They also created a 29-page voter guide.

“Students in the Campaigns and Elections class are committed to not only learning about campaigns and elections, but also to helping inform the campus community about the upcoming election,” says Howard, assistant professor in the Political Science and International Studies department.

The 2018 midterm elections present an opportunity for voters, especially college-age voters, to have a huge impact on the future direction of the United States. Realizing this, the Campaigns and Elections class at Dominican wants fellow students to rock the vote.

At the Voter Information sessions at Dominican, a free lunch was provided along with valuable information and an opportunity to become more invested in the voting process.

Community engagement is a core component of The Dominican Experience. Currently, Dominican is exploring, through curricular and co-curricular events, the community engagement theme of democracy and equity. Students, faculty, and staff organize events relevant to this theme, augmenting students' learning by connecting coursework with issues relevant across local, national, and global communities. Events include town hall forums, panel discussions, lectures, film screenings, and more.
