Violin
Calvin Murasaki
Calvin received a BA in Music and an MA in String Pedagogy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and studied with Dr. Shinichi Suzuki at SF State University International conference. He has taught violin at North Carolina School of the Arts, Salem College, and Arizona State University Paul Rolland Summer Conferences, among others, and has been an adjudicator for the Music Teachers Association and American String Teachers Association Certificate of Merit Programs. He served as a president of the Suzuki Association of Northern California, and was the founder of the Mission Dolores Academy String Program in San Francisco, CA. He currently teaches at the Crowden School in Berkeley, CA. Mr. Murasaki is an active performer and has served as concertmaster in orchestras and toured the U.S. with award-winning ensembles as a five-time Grammy Award recipient.
Cello
Barbara Wampner
Barbara earned a BME at Northwestern University and an MA in Cello Performance at San Francisco State with Margaret Rowell. She is a graduate of the Talent Education Institute, Matsumoto, Japan where she studied Suzuki pedagogy under Dr. Shinichi Suzuki. After teaching middle school music in the SFUSD for thirteen years, she continues as a private studio teacher. She has taught at International Suzuki events in Japan, Korea, Australia, South America, and Europe in addition to summer workshops in the U.S. She has been a guest teacher for the string pedagogy class at the SF Conservatory of Music for many years and is a registered cello teacher trainer for the Suzuki Association of the Americas. She is a member of the SAA Cello Committee.
Piano, Voice
Francisco Ortiz
Francisco earned a BA in Music from Dominican University of California in 2006, where he studied percussion with Ken Crawford and choral/orchestral conducting and voice with Dr. Craig Singleton. In 2008, he received his Master of Music in Music Education degree from Holy Names University where he studied conducting with Judit Hartyányi, Professor at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. Francisco joined the Music Faculty at Dominican as the Music Director of the Chorale in 2015. Francisco also serves as Associate Campus Minister at Marin Catholic High School as well as Accompanist for the San Francisco Boys Chorus. He lives in Novato with his wife and two daughters.
