Michelle Nichols, MD

Dr. Michelle Nichols is an internal medicine physician who specializes in palliative medicine and hospice. She earned her medical degree from UC San Francisco School of Medicine and completed her internship and residency at UC San Francisco Medical Center. Michelle enjoyed 15 years of clinical experience as a hospitalist before focusing her practice on palliative care. She joined UCSF/By the Bay Health in 2017 where she continues to practice as a hospice and palliative physician. Michelle has combined her clinical work with medical education, serving as senior editor for Public Library of Science Medicine and Epocrates before joining Dominican MSPAS from 2015-2019 as Medical Director to develop the PA Studies Program. In addition to leadership activities, she developed curriculum and taught PA students. She has returned to Dominican in the role of Medical Director where she will continue to engage with her love of teaching and bringing the next generation of clinicians into the community. Outside of medicine, she enjoys time with her three children, hiking in Marin, and visiting Northern California beaches.
