Capacity crowd attends Ina Garten event

Celebrity chef Ina Garten, a New York Times bestselling cookbook author and star of Emmy-winning “Barefoot Contessa” on cable television’s Food Network, addressed a capacity crowd of more than 800 in Angelico Hall November 14 in the 2012 Institute for Leadership Studies’ Fall Lecture Series at Dominican University of California.

Garten appeared on stage in conversation with Moira Forbes, President and Publisher of ForbesWoman, and Marissa Mayer, President, CEO and Director of Yahoo. The ILS event, sold-out for weeks, had an extensive waiting list.

The series is a cooperative effort between Dominican’s ILS and independent book store Book Passage. Each year, the Leadership Lecture Series features some of the country's leading figures from the world of business, politics, entertainment, academia, and literature.

All lectures are open to the public. Lectures begin at 7 p.m. in Angelico Hall. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Garten discussed new book, “Barefoot Contessa Foolproof: Recipes You Can Trust,” which features a brand-new collection of recipes and tips. She is the author of four previous cookbooks, which have sold more than three million copies.

In 1978, Garten left her job as a budget analyst in the White House to pursue her dream of operating a specialty food store. She is a frequent contributor to major national magazines and writes a recurring column in O Magazine in addition to her 10-year run on the Food Network.

The 2012 Fall Lecture Series will conclude on November 30 with Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jon Meacham.
