The 2012 autumn issue of the Torch, a publication presenting current news about the people and progress of Dominican University of California, is now available online.

The cover photo (right) features Dominican LINES Ballet/BFA in Dance students Ilaria Guerra and Jeffrey Van Sciver leading to a behind-the-scenes story of how successful and prestigious the program has become since it was launched in 2006. Van Sciver is a past recipient of a Princess Grace Foundation scholarship and the PGF’s Chris Hellman Award for exemplary work and dedication and Guerra, a senior, is in the fourth year of the Alonzo King LINES Ballet/Dominican partnership. The program has grown from 12 to now 53 students representing 18 different states.

The autumn issue of the Torch also includes alumni, athletics and academia news and research plus profiles on existing and new students.  There is a feature story on Dominican students and faculty members who participated in a three-week, service-learning trip to New York City and Dominican President Mary Marcy’s historic announcement about the $8 million plus gift by Rolf Lewis and family to renovate Meadowlands Hall into a state-of-the-art health science center.

There are also beautiful photos from start (a classic black-and-white Ansel Adams’ photographer of Meadowlands Hall) to finish (Dominican alum Kathleen Harpole Solmssen pictured in InStyle magazine) and the Honor Roll of Donors.
