Scholarship Eligibility

Learn about the requirements to maintain eligibility for scholarships at Dominican.

Eligibility for institutional scholarships is reviewed following the end of each semester. Eligibility is usually based on cumulative GPA or meeting other Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements. Students who lose eligibility for their scholarship and have extenuating circumstances should contact the Office of Financial Aid for further information.

Undergraduate Merit Scholarships awarded at the time of admission require students meet a minimum GPA to maintain their eligibility. Students must also meet federal Satisfactory Academic Progress Standards.

  • Trustee Scholarships: Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Presidential Scholarship: Minimum 2.7 GPA
  • Deans Scholarship: Minimum 2.7 GPA
  • Dominican Scholarship: Minimum 2.4 GPA

Students admitted as first year freshmen are awarded with their merit scholarships for up to 8 semesters total. Students admitted as transfers are awarded with their merit scholarships for up to 6 semesters total.

Scholarship Terms and Conditions

  • Scholarships are awarded based on the grade point average (GPA) of the last 60 units earned by the student as determined at the time of admission.  Please note, the actual number of units included in the calculation of GPA may exceed 60 as all units completed in the term that brings the total to 60 units will be included in the calculation.
  • The scholarship is renewable each year up a maximum of three (3) years from the start of enrollment in the program.
  • On-going scholarship eligibility requires that the student maintain a 3.25 GPA in each semester and complete all courses attempted (grades of I, F, UF and W do not represent a completed course).  Scholarship eligibility will be revoked after ONE unsuccessful semester below a 3.25 or course(s) not completed.
  • The percentage does not change over the course of the program for the eligible candidate and is based on the entry (admissions), last 60 GPA units only.
  • No minimum or maximum number of units must be taken; however, continuous term-to-term enrollment, as defined by the individual program, is required.
  • If a student stops out or takes a Leave of Absence for more than one term, he or she will lose the scholarship; an appeal process will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • This program is a non-need based scholarship and will be awarded for academic criteria only.
