Solution Focused and Narrative Therapy

Meadowlands Assembly Hall, Room 106

Instructor: Robin Gayle, PhD, MFT
CE Hours: 6 Hours

The Brief Therapy approach utilizes strategic interventions to reframe how a behavior is seen as a problem and seeks to disrupt the problem-solving efforts that paradoxically maintain it. Solution Focused Therapy views behavior change through working with ‘solutions’ rather than solving ‘problems’. Narrative Therapy ‘externalizes’ the problem as one that can be re-authored into a preferred narrative. The basic interventions of Narrative and Solution Focused Brief Therapies will be practiced in this day-long CE workshop.

This is ideal training for beginning therapists because the models can be implemented immediately, and for the advanced therapist, it offers interventions that can be incorporated into current modalities.
