Presidential hopeful Julian Castro speaks in ILS Fall Lecture Series

Politician -- and possible 2020 U.S. presidential candidate -- Julian Castro closed the 2018 Fall Leadership Lecture Series at Dominican University of California in San Rafael on October 25. The series is presented by Dominican in partnership with Book Passage.

All lectures are held in Dominican’s Angelico Concert Hall off Acacia Avenue. Doors open one hour prior to the programs. Free parking is available in the Conlan Center parking lot at the intersection of Acacia and Grand Avenues.

All tickets include an autographed copy of each speaker’s book. Tickets can be purchased by calling (415) 927-0960 ext. 1 or visiting bookpassage.com/dominican.

Mr. Castro is the former mayor of San Antonio and U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary. He announced earlier this month that he "likely" will seek the Democratic Party's nomination for President in 2020. At Dominican, Mr. Castro discussed his newest book An Unlikely Journey. Tickets are $40 and include a signed copy of An Unlikely Journey.

Listen to Julian Castro on "It's All Political" podcast by SF Chronicle political reporter Joe Garofoli.

The speaker series, a cooperative effort between Dominican’s Institute for Leadership Studies and Book Passage, features some of the country’s leading figures from the worlds of business, politics, entertainment, academia, and literature. The series has entertained and educated thousands of Marin County and San Francisco Bay Area residents for the past 15 years.

The 2018 ILS Fall Lecture Series also featured former U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry (Sept. 13) in conversation with Washington Governor Jay Inslee, Academy Award-winning actress and director Sally Field (Sept. 29) in conversation with author Janis Cooke Newman, and presidential historian Michael Beschloss (Oct. 18).
