Pianist William Wolfram performs in Guest Concert Series

Pianist William Wolfram, silver medalist at both the William Kapell and the Naumburg International Piano Competitions, and a bronze medalist at the prestigious Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in Moscow, performed in the 2018-19 Guest Concert Series at Dominican University of California on November 11.

The Sunday concerts, sponsored by Dominican’s Department of Music, Dance, and Performing Arts, start at 3 p.m. in Angelico Concert Hall. Free parking is available in the nearby Conlan Center lot off Grand Avenue in San Rafael.

Wolfram, one of America’s foremost pianists, returned to Angelico Concert Hall from New York City. He is a Juilliard School graduate who has performed with the San Francisco Symphony. He has appeared with many of the greatest orchestras of the world and is highly sought after for his special focus on the music of Franz Liszt and Beethoven, as well as a special champion for the music of modernist 20th century American composers. He is currently a faculty member at the Manhattan School of Music.

At Dominican, Wolfram performed Schoenberg Three Piano Pieces, Op 11; Schumann Humoreske in B Flat Major, Op. 20' Liszt Liebestraume No. 3, S. 541; and Liszt Aprés une lecture du Dante II, fantasia quasi sonata (Années de pèlerinage II, S. 161 No. 7) “Dante Sonata”

All Guest Concert Series concerts are free to students under the age of 18 including middle school and elementary school children if accompanied and supervised by an adult. In addition, community college students with a valid I.D. and music and art teachers in grades K-12 will be admitted free of charge along with Dominican students, faculty, and staff with a valid I.D.

Single-event tickets, which are only available at the door 30 minutes prior to scheduled performances, are $20 for general admission and $17 for seniors over 60. Season subscription series tickets are $60, $50 for seniors over 60.
