Latinos Unidos hosts first Spring Festival

Students, faculty, staff of Dominican University of California and community members enjoyed food, music, dance, and games as Latinos Unidos celebrated its first Spring Festival May 4 on the Meadowlands Lawn.

Among the entertainers were members of Ballet Folklorico Netzahualcoyotl, folkloric group Aurora y Juan, and DJ Miguel Godoy. Games included making maracas, face painting, photo booths with props, planting a seed, and pin the tail on the piñata. The festival ended with the breaking of the piñata.

Latinos Unidos has been an active student group at Dominican since 2008. Some key group activities include Dia de los Muertos celebration, the annual Posadas (dinner and a movie), Noche de Baile, and the Latinos Unidos Mentorship Program with students at Canal Alliance.
