Exciting Orientation 2017 program greets Class of 2021

The Dominican community will help its newest Penguins kick off their collegiate career during the New Student Orientation, three days of events designed to help the class of 2021 meet new friends, connect with campus resources, learn their way around, and have a great time.

Orientation began Wednesday, August 16, at 8 a.m. with move-in day for resident students. Students and parents checked-in at Conlan Recreation Center, located at the intersection of Grand and Acacia Avenues, between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Members of Dominican's student orientation team were available to help during the moving-in process.

The remainder of the first day of Orientation consisted of events for both students and their families:

•    1:30 p.m. Dominican President Mary B. Marcy, Dean of Students Paul Raccanello, Alumna Meghan Nelson '15, and Associated Students of Dominican University (ASDU) President Hallie Balch formally welcomed new families in the Conlan Center gymnasium. Following the welcomes, students met their orientation mentor team.

•    2:15 p.m. The parent orientation program was held in Angelico Concert Hall. Student orientation group meetings were conducted across campus.

•    4:15-4:45 p.m. parents and students had their farewell moments on the Meadowlands Hall and Anne Hathaway lawns.

•    5-7 p.m. Dinner for students in Caleruega Dining Hall.

•    7:30 p.m.  "PLAYFAIR" in the Conlan Center.

•    9 p.m. Ice Cream Social hosted by Alumni Relations.

Orientation 2017 continued Thursday and Friday, August 17-18, with an exciting array of activities for incoming students. Events included a FunFest on the Alemany Library lawn from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, the Dominican “Amazing Race” starting at Edgehill Mansion at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, and “Music Games on the Green” from 3:30-6 p.m. on Friday.
