Student Affairs

The Office of Student Affairs works closely with students and strives to promote and develop educational co-curricular programming and robust extra-curricular activities and events for students and the campus community. The departments that comprise Student Affairs include Student Activities and Engagement, Housing and Residence Life, Athletics, Student Conduct and the CARE team, Campus Ministry, Health and Counseling Services, Dining Services, and Campus Security.

As educators, mentors, and advocates, the Student Affairs staff at Dominican encourages and supports students in the integration of their intellectual, spiritual, social, ethical, and physical development. In helping students to become members of the campus community, the staff fosters their leadership skills, life competencies, and the embodiment of the Dominican traditions and ideals.

Dr. Paul Raccanello serves as the VP for Student Affairs and Dean of Students at Dominican. He is responsible for the staff, programs, budgets, and overall leadership and direction for the Division of Student Affairs; Career and Internship Services, Campus Ministry, Residence Life, Student Activities & Leadership, Student Health and Counseling Services, and Student Rights & Responsibilities. Beyond his work in Student Affairs, Dr. Raccanello also has extensive experience within the following areas of higher education: admissions and enrollment management, athletics, legal issues/compliance, Title IX, diversity, and campus safety and crisis management.

Jessica Frazier serves as the Director of Student Engagement at Dominican. She oversees the Student Government Association, orientation programs, the Torch Success Program, clubs and organizations, and campus events. She believes that a thriving co-curricular environment enhances the educational experience and contributes to a strong sense of belonging for students. Through meaningful campus engagement, Jessica is dedicated to cultivating an inclusive and vibrant community for all.

Sr. Mary Soher, OP is the Director of Campus Ministry and a member of the Adrian Dominican Sisters. She coordinates the Campus Ministry program and staff and continues the deepening and development of the Dominican Ideals throughout the university community.

Fr. Bob Haberman is the Campus Ministry Chaplain and an Associate Professor of Religious Studies. In addition to teaching two courses a semester, he conducts many of the religious services on campus and is available to all members of the Dominican community for spiritual support.

We welcome all students to Student Health, regardless of insurance. We provide health education, immunizations, TB testing, emergency response on campus, assist FNP and MD, order labs, and assistance with navigating health insurance and referrals. We also host flu shot clinics, STI testing, blood drives, and other health events. Please stop in or call if you have any questions or concerns. Everything is confidential.

Assistant Professor, Counseling Psychology Department

Dr. Diane Suffridge directs and supervises University Counseling Services, which is staffed by graduate students in the Counseling Psychology Department. She has supervised and trained numerous people in the field of counseling and psychotherapy for over 25 years and was Clinical Director at two nonprofit organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area before coming to Dominican. She is deeply committed to supporting trainees to provide high quality counseling that is responsive to each individual's need.

Aaron serves as the Housing Director at Dominican. His responsibilities include supervision, development, and training of the Resident Advisor (RA) staff, as well as the creation and implementation of programming and other initiatives to promote the learning and development of all students residing in the Residence Halls. As Housing Director, Aaron is dedicated to building inclusive living communities where all students feel comfortable, secure, and validated.
