Black Student Union

The Dominican Black Student Union (BSU) aims to increase political, social and cultural awareness of the African American community. We are very inclusive and encourage everyone of all races to join. Our goal is to promote unity and diversity to revamp and stabilize a presence on campus through a series of events, socials and forums.

BSU Mission Statement

In a society where many are judged by the color of their skin, education diminishes the ignorance we have become accustomed to. The Black Student Union of Dominican University of California aims to educate, engage, and unite Dominican students by not putting race as an issue but by promoting individuality. The “black” in BSU does not stand for the color of our skin; it stands for unifying all our differences in order to create this shade. As we combine all the colors the final product is black, the colors represent our differences from our personalities, interests, backgrounds, cultures, beliefs and what makes us individually unique. As we encourage our fellow students to join our club we foster an attitude of school spirit and open-mindedness to our differences. “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character,” Martin Luther King Jr. BSU of DUC aims to unite all people, the only thing you have to be to join, is YOU.
