Orientation FAQs

Do I have to go to Orientation?

Yes! All sessions are required unless otherwise noted. Fall In-Season athletes will work with the Athletics Department to attend required sessions.

What if I can't check in during the allotted time?

These times are highly encouraged. However, we do understand if travel arrangements cause you to arrive earlier or later. Check-in will close at 1:00pm! Be sure to plan your arrival before 1:00pm.

What happens at orientation check-in?

On-Campus Students
During orientation check-in you will check in yourself and your guests for the Orientation program. You will also receive your room key. Any outstanding or incomplete paperwork will also be addressed at this time.

Commuter Students
During orientation check-in you will check in yourself and your guests for the Orientation program. Any outstanding or incomplete paperwork will also be addressed at this time.

What if I am commuter?

All sessions are required unless otherwise noted. A commuter student dinner  will also be held during the first day of Orientation.

When will I receive my class schedule?

New students can view their class schedule through the Self Service portal. If you have questions about your schedule contact the advisor in your program.

When will I get my orientation schedule?

All students will receive a copy of their Orientation schedule upon their arrival to campus.

Can my parents/guests attend Orientation with me?

Parents can attend the first day of Orientation. There are sessions for families and guests available on this day. Students are encouraged to use Orientation as a time to meet other new students and become adjusted to life in San Rafael.

Is there a dress code for Orientation?

No. Dress comfortably as you may be moving around a lot.

Do I need to sign up for Orientation or pay a fee?

All students need to register for Orientation. An email with a link has been sent to your Dominican account. However, there is no additional fee for orientation.

What should I bring to Orientation?

Please bring a photo ID. Your Penguin Pass is preferred but, if you have not received it prior to Orientation then another photo ID will suffice.

Where should I park during Orientation?

All students and guests should park at Conlan Recreation Center. Do not park in Residence Hall lots. These are permitted spaces.
