Google Hangouts

Video Meetings and Conferences using Google Hangouts.

Google Hangouts let you connect with others using audio, video, and screen sharing. You can create a Hangout for just yourself and one other person, or you can invite more people and have a group Hangout. The maximum number of people in a Hangout is 15.

The Basics

  • The Meeting Organizer and Meeting Attendees need Gmail accounts. A Google+ account is no longer a requirement for Hangouts, so you don't need to have Google+ activated on your Google account in order to use Hangouts.
  • The easiest way to create a Hangout is to create a Google Calendar event. Every Google Calendar event automatically creates an associated Hangout space, which you can choose to enter at any time. When you invite other people to your calendar event, they can easily join your associated Hangout.
  • You can create an instant meeting - any person receiving an invitation to a Google Calendar event will see a "Video Link"  in the email invite. Clicking the link will allow them to join the meeting immediately.
  • Hangouts work with all modern web browsers (The Google Chrome browser is not required.)
