Video Production

The purpose of this policy is to:

  • Establish the responsibility for oversight and procedures for producing marketing and promotional videos.
  • Ensure videos coordinate with existing University-wide marketing and branding efforts.
  • Contribute positively to the University's brand image.
  • Follow established style guidelines.
  • Prevent duplication of materials already in existence.
  • Meet the highest production standards in the most cost-effective manner.

This policy does not apply to student projects or to educational or documentary videos produced for use by faculty.

This policy/procedure applies to all Dominican schools, departments and business units.

In order to ensure all video production is in line with the purpose of this policy, production of promotional videos will be coordinated through and approved by the marketing department. This includes video production intended for broadcast television or online.

Marketing will review the video goals, script, rough cut and final. The marketing department works closely with internal and external video production resources to produce promotional and informational videos for the University. When appropriate, marketing will refer faculty and staff to preferred vendors for video services. All videos produced for external use/promotion/information must be approved by the marketing department before being distributed externally.

Any request by an external film or video production company to film on University property shall refer their script to the marketing department for review and approval. Each film/production company will be required to complete a “Filming Agreement” through facilities before being approved to film on campus. (This policy does not apply to news organizations or journalists who will work through the public relations department.)
