BA in Education Studies plus Dual Teacher Preparation

A combination of courses across three programs provide a comprehensive theoretical and practical professional preparation for teaching Elementary and Special Education students, leading to two credentials--Preliminary Multiple Subject and Education Specialist: Mild/Moderate Instruction.

Unique Bay Area Integrated Dual Credential Teacher Preparation Program

We offer a program unique to the Bay Area that allows Dual majors to earn a BA in Education Studies and two credentials--Preliminary Multiple Subject and Education Specialist: Mild/Moderate in 4.5 years. With the completion of additional units, coursework can culminate in a MS Degree.

This integrated program prepares students for the real world of teaching. Our graduates are ready to teach all students in elementary school, including those with special needs. Students are also prepared to teach in K-12 mild/moderate special education classrooms and resource rooms. Upon completing this course of study, students are extremely marketable: They are prepared to teach in both general education elementary classrooms and special education settings (K-12, Resource Specialist Program, Special Day Class, or Learning Center), and gain hands-on knowledge of both environments through student teaching experiences and courses in both areas. With this option, students are provided with a wider choice regarding their job opportunities, opening up a world of possibilities for their career. This also provides choices for students to apply for teaching jobs in their specialty areas or specific areas of interest.

Masters of Science in Education

In two or three additional semesters, you can earn an MS in Education degree. This option leads to both a BA in Education Studies and an MS in Education degree as well as a Preliminary Multiple Subject and Preliminary Education Specialist Mild/Moderate credential (K-12).
