Professional and Continuing Education

Courses offered through the School of Liberal Arts and Education and Professional Development Division will enable participants to earn graduate credit in the form of Extension Semester Units (ESU) or Continuing Education Units (CEU). These credits are generally used by participants to satisfy certification or professional development requirements for salary advancement*

 

Types of Credit

Extension Semester Units—usually associated with courses taken to attain a form of certification. ESU are characterized by 15 hours of contact time per unit, and are associated with a degree of knowledge assessment and/or skills implementation.

Continuing Education Units—usually associated with courses taken for information and non-mandatory skill building.  CEU are characterized by 10 hours of contact time per unit, and require a minimal amount of knowledge assessment and/or skill implementation.

*Participants are advised to obtain prior employer approval for use in salary advancement.
