About the Nursing Department

Consistent with Dominican's mission, we educate baccalaureate level nurses who are prepared to provide professionally competent, culturally sensitive, and ethically grounded nursing care, who respect the innate dignity of human life, demonstrate leadership through multidisciplinary collaborations, and model good citizenship within a global community.

The first Dominican nursing program was approved by the California Board of Nursing in 1983.

California Board of Registered Nursing has approved the Baccalaureate program through 2020.

Dominican University has an active chapter of STT. Meetings take place monthly with spectacular speakers sharing the latest information on current professional nursing issues. Chapter president, Dr. Alicia Bright RN MSN CNS, provides leadership for undergraduate students towards regional, national and international honor society involvement.
