Medical Director 

In December, 2015 Dr. Bourke joined Dominican’s Advisory Committee for our Physician Assistant Studies Program and is now serving as our Medical Director.

Academic and Professional Accomplishments

Dr. Michelle Bourke is an internal medicine physician certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, with expertise in hospital medicine. She earned her medical degree from UC San Francisco School of Medicine, and subsequently completed her internship and residency at UC San Francisco Medical Center. Dr. Bourke spent six years as a primary care clinician before focusing her practice on hospital medicine. She joined the Marin Hospitalist Medical Group in 2008 and continues to practice clinical medicine as an attending physician at Marin General Hospital.

Dr. Bourke has combined her clinical work with medical writing and editing with specific interest in the open access movement. Dr. Bourke served as medical editor for Epocrates and as senior editor for Public Library of Science Medicine and Bright.md.

Dr. Bourke is a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine and American College of Physicians. Outside of medicine she volunteers her time as a mentor for disadvantaged high school students through 10,000 Degrees in San Rafael and keeps busy with her three young children.
