Dr. Ruth Ramsey was appointed Dean of the School of Health and Natural Sciences on January 4, 2018. Dr. Ramsey joined Dominican in 1996 to establish the Department of Occupational Therapy, served as the chair and director through June 2017, building it into a nationally recognized and accredited graduate professional program. She assumed the role of Interim Dean of the School in February, 2017. Dr. Ramsey holds a doctoral degree in education from the University of San Francisco, and a master’s degree in occupational therapy from San Jose State University. She has been an active member of the Dominican University community for over 21 years, serving on numerous committees, participating in the design and development of the Center for University and Community Partnerships, the redesign of the Meadowlands Health Science Center, and leading study abroad educational courses in Sweden and Mexico. Dr. Ramsey is active in state and national associations, presents regularly at conferences and has served on numerous professional committees and boards. Her scholarly interests include healthy aging, wellness, and community-based health care. Her leisure interests include international travel, gardening, hiking, and reading. Dr. Ramsey has dedicated her professional career to building high-quality academic programs and is passionate about supporting all students to be successful in their chosen fields.

Clinical Simulation Center Manager                                                            

Barbara directs the daily operations of the Clinical Simulation Center at Dominican University, a position she has held since 2012. Barbara has helped to guide the center to its current state of the art facility through visioning and collaborative work with team members across the university, and the generous donations of community members. Barbara obtained her Master of Science in Nursing, Leadership and Management from Sonoma State University (2006) and a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Alabama, Birmingham (1987). Barbara maintains active licenses in both nursing and physical therapy. She has presented at simulation conferences nationally and is an active member of the Society of Simulation in Healthcare (SSIH), having served as Content Chair of Inter-professional education for the International Meeting of Simulation in Healthcare since 2015. Barbara is a current member of the California Simulation Alliance, the Bay Area Simulation Collaborative, and the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning.

Director of Operations, Grants Coordinator and Compliance Officer                                                            

Amy Gladstone is the Director of Operations and Grants and Compliance Officer for the School of Health and Natural Sciences. Amy received a BA in Communications from UC Santa Barbara in 2000. She is currently enrolled in the MS Education program at Dominican. Prior to this position, she served effectively as the Administrative Coordinator for the Natural Sciences and Mathematics Department from 2009 to 2012 and as the Executive Assistant to the Dean from 2013-2014. Her role includes managing the school's budget, providing support services to the Dean, and grant oversight.

Kathleen (Kathy) Budzinski joined the School of Health and Natural Sciences at Dominican University in March 2016. As Executive Assistant to the Dean, she is responsible for activities that directly support the Dean and the School office. In her role, Kathy functions as a key member of the Dean’s staff, assisting and facilitating projects for the Dean, interacting with faculty, staff and students, and assisting the Director of Operations with the daily functioning of the administrative hub of the School.
