Creating a Digital Portfolio can be a simple process; however, developing the content and reflecting on your education takes time, direction, and support.


When logging into Gmail to create your Google Site, your default browser should always be Chrome. There are now two versions of Google Site: Classic and New. Google will be transitioning all Classic Sites to the New Google Sites by January 2018. If using the New Google Site feature, please make sure you have the following pages: About Me, Education Plan, Career Plan, and Institutional Learning Outcomes. You can easily add subpages or new pages as you progress overtime.

How to create a Google Site at-a-glance:

  • Read Dominican Digital Portfolio Google Site Policy. Open Chrome as your browser. Log into your Dominican Gmail
  • Click on Google Apps, top right corner Click on Sites (if you do not see this option, select more)
  • Click CREATE (top left button), hover over “in new Sites” or simply click on New Google Sites (bottom left)
  • Click bottom right plus button, Create New Site Name your Site in the top left (first and last name)
  • Select THEME for site, (top right) Add the following PAGES (top right): About Me, Education Plan, Career Plan, Institutional Learning Outcomes. Tip: You can add subpages or an additional page for your home program.
  • Customization: You may insert images. Please follow guidelines for image usage and copyright. Always give image source credit.



  • “Published” = iSite is in a published state and can be made visible to audience (internal/external) depending on privacy setting and level of sharing.
  • “Unpublished” = iSite cannot be seen by external audience; however, iSite can be shared with specific internal audience to support iSite development.
  • “Editor” = You can add an “editor” such as your course instructor, advisor, or mentor. If adding an editor, this person will have the ability to “edit” your iSite. Use this feature with discretion.
  • “Link sharing” = This is accessed when you click on “Add editor” and click “change” for link sharing options.
    • Here is where you control the level of privacy and sharing. You may select to share your iSite with specific people, anyone at Dominican with the link, anyone at Dominican, anyone with the link, or public on the web. 


For HELP, click on More button (three dots next to PUBLISH), click Help and visit the Google Sites Help Center This feature allow you to easily search common questions.
