Suresh Appavoo

Dr. Suresh Appavoo is the Dean for Diversity and Equity, a Fulbright Scholar (Republic of the Maldives 2012-2013), and a tenured Associate Professor in the School of Education and Counseling Psychology at Dominican.

Suresh Appavoo is a highly experienced intercultural and diversity trainer. His primary areas of teaching and research focus on cross and intercultural learning, the socio-cultural context of education, critical pedagogy, leadership, change-agency and Educational Technology. He has conducted numerous workshops for schools, universities, and the corporate sector. Dr. Appavoo earned a doctorate in International and Multicultural Education in 1998 from the University of San Francisco, a Master’s Degree in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management, and has Bachelor’s Degrees from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California and Madurai Kamaraj University in South India. Prior to arriving at Dominican in 2001, he was the Dean of Multicultural Programs at San Francisco University High School, and served as the International Student Advisor for the University of San Francisco where he also taught as an adjunct faculty member in the School of Arts and Sciences.
