Matthew C. Bronson, PhD

Director of Assessment at Dominican University of California

Matthew is an educational linguist and researcher by training, whose scholarly work and practice explore the intersections of education, language, culture, and consciousness. He has embodied a commitment to trans-disciplinary, problem-centered inquiry at eight universities and colleges as instructor and administrator. Matthew worked at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco as a professor for three decades and as Director of Assessment for ten years. He was a founder of the anthropology department and the Center for Writing and Scholarship at CIIS. His work as a teacher educator at UC Davis has centered on preparing high school science and math teachers to create high-impact learning and literacy experiences for linguistic and cultural minority students. Matthew's Publications include the edited volume So What? Now What? The Anthropology of Consciousness Responds to a World in Crisis published (Cambridge Scholars Publishing). He holds a BA. and MA from UC Berkeley in linguistics and cognitive science and a Ph.D in educational research from U.C. Davis with a designated emphasis in second language acquisition.
