Adjunct Faculty, Clinical Applications

The Master of Science Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS) graduate program at Dominican University of California is seeking a qualified PA, FNP, MD, or DO faculty to coordinate and teach medicine units offered in the Spring, and Summer semesters in the graduate Master of Science PA program. The MSPAS program is in the Department of Health Sciences within the School of Health and Natural Sciences. The program is experiencing significant growth. Course descriptions for the course(s) associated with the internship program are listed below.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate group tutorials that utilize case-based learning strategies to emphasize integration of physical assessment and clinical medicine content presented during the semester. Students will perform focused mock patient encounters honing their clinical decision making skills through the management of a mock patient.
  • Identify, schedule, and evaluate guest lecturers from the local medical community
  • Evaluate and grade student work and provide feedback to students
  • Mentor and advise students on the progress of their projects and coursework
  • Uphold academic performance standards and integrity

 

Course Descriptions

  • PAL 5205 - Clinical Applications - This course is the is the first of a three-course sequence (Spring, Summer, Fall) in clinical medicine application that will challenge students to integrate their didactic learning with patient care experiences and simulated patient exercises. Coursework is designed to provide the student with opportunities to apply their knowledge and skills. Small group tutorials will utilize case-based learning strategies to emphasize integration of material presented during the semester. Students will perform focused patient evaluations, honing their clinical decision making and medical documentation skills.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in the specialties of family, emergency, and/or internal medicine
  • Previous experience in teaching master’s level PA, FNP, MD, or DO students
