Adjunct Faculty, Clinical Medicine

The Master of Science Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS) graduate program at Dominican University of California is seeking a qualified PA, FNP, MD, or DO faculty to coordinate and teach medicine units offered in the Spring, and Summer semesters in the graduate Master of Science PA program. The MSPAS program is in the Department of Health Sciences within the School of Health and Natural Sciences. The program is experiencing significant growth. Course descriptions for the course(s) associated with the internship program are listed below.


  • Develop, coordinate, and teach organ-system based clinical medicine courses in the MSPAS program for the Spring and Summer 2019 semesters. (numbers to be determined based on applicants expertise)
  • Identify, schedule, and evaluate guest lecturers from the local medical community
  • Evaluate and grade student work and provide feedback to students
  • Mentor and advise students on the progress of their projects and coursework
  • Uphold academic performance standards and integrity


Course Descriptions

  • PA/PAL 5280 Clinical Medicine I - This course is the first of a two course sequence (Spring, Summer) in clinical medicine. During this course sequence, students will receive systems-based education on patient evaluation, diagnosis, and management across the life span. The pathophysiologic basis of disease, (including genetics and molecular mechanisms of disease), generating differential diagnoses, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies will be covered. Additionally, the clinical medicine series will challenge students to apply their knowledge through problem-based case scenarios to develop problem solving and medical decision-making skills. The systems that will be included in semester 2 include: Dermatologic, Eyes, Ears, Nose, and Throat, Pulmonary, Hematologic, Cardiovascular, Gastrointestinal, and Endocrine. 


Required Qualifications

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in the specialties of family, emergency, and/or internal medicine
  • Previous experience in teaching master’s level PA, FNP, MD, or DO students
