Institutional Research

Institutional Research (IR) collects, analyzes, reports and maintains quantitative and qualitative data on issues confronting higher education, particularly for our University.

We support strategic planning and assist with campus decision-making, internal and external surveys, and produce the annual University Factbook, Common Data Set, and the Student Right to Know. This information is publicly available.

The Common Data Set

The Common Data Set (CDS) is a collaboration between data providers in the education community and publishers. The goal of this collaboration is to provide quality and accurate information to all those involved in a student’s transition into higher education.

The CDS is organized around 10 topics:

  • general information
  • enrollment and persistence
  • first-time, first-year admission
  • transfer admission
  • academic offerings and policies
  • student life
  • annual expenses
  • financial aid
  • instructional faculty and class size
  • degrees conferred

The Student Right to Know

The Student Right to Know and Campus Security Act of 1990 require all colleges and universities to disclose their graduation rates, information on athletes receiving athletics-related financial aid, crime statistics and campus security policies.
