MA Thesis Binding

To order thesis copies, please read the thesis binding FAQ's (listed below) and then print out and complete the thesis binding form . Submit the form to the Library Technician with your order.  If you have any questions, please contact the Library Technician at (415) 485-3217.

How many copies of my thesis must I order?

Two.  Alemany Library keeps two bound copies of each DUC masters thesis: one for the Library's archives and one for circulation and interlibrary loan.   Students may order up to four personal copies in addition to the two library copies. 

Note: At least one of the library copies must have a signature page signed by all thesis committee faculty members.


How much does thesis binding cost?

Thesis binding is $15.00 per copy.  The library accepts personal checks and cash as payment.

 

What kind of paper must I use for my thesis copies?

Thesis copies must be reproduced on acid-free resume quality paper.

 

What will my thesis look like after it is bound?

Theses are bound in black with gold lettering.  The last name of each author will be embossed on the spine, and the author's full name will be included in the library's online catalog.

How should I submit my thesis copies to the Library?

Submit the copies in a covered box to reduce the possibility of loss or damage.

 

How long will it take to bind my thesis?

Binding turnaround can be several months.

 

How will I receive my thesis?

The library technician will notify Marin County residents when their personal copies are ready for pickup at the library.

Out-of-county residents will receive their personal copies in the mail.


What about multiple authors?

For theses with multiple authors:

  • Each author may order up to four personal copies at the rate of $15.00 per copy.
  • The last name of each author will be embossed upon the spine.
  • The full name of each author will be included in the online catalog.

 

Does my academic department require a copy of my thesis?

Your academic department may require an additional copy for its archives.  Check with your adviser on this point well in advance of final thesis preparation.  Please Note:  The library does NOT bind departmental copies.
