Women's Tennis bounces back against NDNU
The Lady Penguins of the Dominican Women's Tennis team got back on a winning track on Tuesday against Notre Dame de Namur, sweeping the Argonauts 9-0.
Jessica Miller (pictured) won her number one singles match, 6-1, 6-2. She teamed with Stephanie Lemp to win at number one doubles as well, 8-1. Lemp, Samantha Rodis-Jamero, Anh Truong and Tami Tan also played well for the Lady Penguins.
The team's record now stands at 3-3. They play their next match on Friday, April 11 as they visit Mills College. Their final home match will be on Saturday, April 12th as they host Southern Oregon.

Lady Penguins lose to Cal State LA in Women's Tennis
The Dominican Women's Tennis struggled on Wednesday against the Golden Eagles of Cal State Los Angeles, losing 9-0.
Jessica Miller (pictured), playing at number one singles, had the best line against her counterpart, winning two games in each of her sets.
The team plays next on Tuesday as they host Notre Dame de Namur. The match begins at 2:00 p.m.

Lady Penguins route Modesto JC in Women's Tennis
The Lady Penguins of the Women's Tennis team put on a dominating performance this past week in a 7-2 win over Modesto Junior College.
Stephanie Lemp, Anh Truong and Tami Tan each won their matches in two set wins. Samantha Rodis-Jamero faced a tougher match at number three singles, but she would ultimately prevail, 4-6, 6-2, 10-3.
The team's record now stands at 2-1. They play their next match at home this Friday against Southern Utah University. The match begins at 11:00 a.m.

Women's Tennis loses Sonoma
The Lady Penguins of the Women's Tennis team had a rough outing this past week, losing all nine of their matches at Sonoma-State in a 9-0 defeat.
Stephanie Lemp had the strongest outing for Dominican in her #2 singles match, almost rallying in both games before falling short, 4-6, 5-7.
The team's record now stands at 1-1. They play their next match at home this Thursday against Modesto Junior College. The match begins at 2:00 p.m.

Women's Tennis opens season with win over Mills College
San Rafael, Ca. — The Lady Penguins of Dominican got their 2008 season off to a good start with an 8-1 win over the visitors from Mills College on Tuesday.
"We are really excited. This is a great start," Dominican coach Teri Goodman said. "This is the first time we have beaten Mills."
The team was led by a dominating 6-0, 6-1 win by their #1 singles player, Jessica Miller.
Their next match comes Tuesday, February 19th as the host Santa Rosa Community College.

Two tennis players earn Scholar-Athlete honors
Olathe, Kan. — The 2007 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes have been named for women's tennis. Dominican University of California senior
Ashley Wells and junior
Martha Stoddard
have been recognized with the honor for their excellence on and off of the field.
This brings the total number of Dominican scholar-athletes for the 2006-2007 season to 14 - other sports included three women's soccer players, two men's soccer players, four women's volleyball players, and three women's basketball players.

Dominican has tough time on road
Oakland, Calif. — The Lady Penguins gave it a good try against Mills but came up short, losing the match against Mills College 5-4 on Tuesday.

Stephanie Lemp continued their strong season-long play in #1 doubles, winning 8-3 and individual wins in the No. 1 and 2 singles matches. Senior

pulled out a tight 11-9 come-from-behind victory in a close tie-break after splitting the first two sets 6-2.

Tennis drops second straight
San Rafael, Calif. — Santa Rosa Junior College proved to be a tough opponent as the Dominican women lost 3-6 on Tuesday afternoon and fell to 0-2. Dominican's #1 doubles,
Samantha Rodis-Jamero and
Stephanie Lemp
beat SRJC's Laurie Souksavanth and Tris Kuzu in a close match 8-7. The Lady Penguins' other two victories came by default.
Monica Padron and
Monique LeHouillier
were strong contenders as a doubles team but lost 5-7, 4-6 to Kimberly Pierce and Leslie Walker.
The tennis team will be in action again Thursday, February 22 vs. American River College. Start time is set for 2:00 p.m.

Tennis rained out
San Rafael, Calif. — The Dominican women's tennis match with Diablo Valley College has been cancelled due to inclement weather and will not be rescheduled.
Weather permitting, the Lady Penguins will be in action on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. against Modesto Junior College.

pairing up for wins. Rodis-Janero and Lemp also tabbed wins in singles matches but Mills' Maggie Rust pulled out a 7-6 win to give the Cyclones the overall victory.
The Lady Penguins are next slate to play on February 8 against Diablo Valley College. Matches will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Forest Meadows tennis courts, weather permitting.

Wells recognized as 2006 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete
Olathe, Kan. — The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the 2006 Daktronics-NAIA All-America Scholar Athletes. Student-Athletes must be nominated by their head coach, be a junior or above in academic standing, and maintain a 3.5 or higher cumulateve GPA. Those Dominican University of California athletes awarded this honor for the 2006 season are senior

Wells, who is studying Biology, hails from Maxwell, California and also earned Scholar-Athlete recognition in volleyball.
The Dominican program had 11 student-athletes and 1 team awarded the title of NAIA Scholar-Athlete for the 2005-2006 season.

CAL Club Team sweeps Lady Penguins
San Rafael, Calif. — The Lady Penguins were greeted by nice weather to play in after being rained out on February 21. The UC California swept the the young Lady Penguins in both singles and doubles play, dropping them to 0-3 on the season. Dominican hits the road to face Mills College in Oakland on Tuesday.
