US News & World Report Names Dominican a Top School in the West
"Although rankings of this type are only one indication of the quality of our University, we are pleased to be recognized," said Dominican University of California President Joseph R. Fink.
The ranking coincides with the highest enrollment in the University’s 114-year history. Total enrollment for fall 2004 is 1,977, which breaks last fall’s record enrollment of 1,766. The fall 2004 figure represents a 182 percent increase in the past 10 years.
U.S. News & World Report’s America’s Best Colleges is an annual examination of 1,400 American colleges and universities. The 572 universities in the master’s category are ranked within four geographic areas —North, South, Midwest, and West. The 129 master’s universities in the West are located in Alaska, Hawaii, California, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Montana, Colorado, Oklahoma, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. Rankings are based on a number of factors, including peer assessment, retention, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, graduation rate performance, and alumni giving rate.
