AARP Announces Sponsorship of October 12th Gubernatorial Debate

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Oct. 8 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- AARP is a sponsor of the October 12 California gubernatorial debate at Dominican University of California in San Rafael. Dominican, in partnership with NBC, is presenting the debate between Democratic candidate Jerry Brown and Republican candidate Meg Whitman.

"On behalf of AARP's more than 3 million California members, we are pleased to sponsor a forum where the two candidates for governor can present their respective visions for the future of our state," said AARP California State Director Tom Porter. "The next governor will face a daunting set of public policy issues that are critical to the future of all Californians. Those at mid-life and older are paying close attention to how our new governor will continue to implement the Affordable Health Care Act. Our state is also facing a looming crisis in terms of long term care for an aging population. AARP will be looking to our newly elected leaders to do a better job of addressing the many issues Californians face in a less partisan, more open manner than we have seen of late."
