Leadership Lecture Series Welcomes Al Gore

Former Vice President Al Gore will speak in San Rafael on Wednesday, May 23 at 7 p.m. The visit, co-sponsored by Dominican's Institute for Leadership Studies, will be Gore’s only Bay Area appearance surrounding the May 22 release of his book "The Assault on Reason."

The event sponsors are Book Passage, Dominican University of California’s Institute for Leadership Studies, Dominican University of California’s Department of Politics and International Studies, and the Environmental Education Council of Marin (EECOM).

Gore will talk at 7 p.m. in the Marin Center Veterans' Memorial Auditorium. The tickets for this event cost $40 per person and include a copy of “The Assault on Reason." Tickets will be on sale at the Marin Center starting a 11 a.m. on May 9, or through Ticketmaster at 415-499-6800 or ticketmaster.com

“This is another wonderful opportunity through our partnership with Book Passage to welcome to Dominican a major figure in the world of U.S. politics and to invite the Marin community to attend what will be a fascinating evening,” said Dr. Denise Lucy, director of the Institute for Leadership Studies. “We also are delighted to be working with the Environmental Education Council of Marin on this event.”

Gore will be the third political figure to speak at Dominican this year as part of the University’s popular Leadership Lecture Series. In February, former presidential candidate Ralph Nader delivered a lecture in Angelico Concert Hall. Earlier this month, former presidential candidate and New Jersey Senator Bill Bradley spoke to a full house in the University’s Shield Room

Last February, Karenna Gore Schiff visited Dominican to talk about her new book “Lighting the Way.” Before appearing in Angelico Concert Hall, Gore Schiff participated in a classroom experience with Dominican students to discuss the research that went into her book about the lives of nine women who changed the politics of modern America.
