Dominican Welcomes John M. Baworowsky, Vice President for Enrollment Management

John M. Baworowsky, Ph.D., has been appointed vice president for enrollment management at Dominican University of California.

JB CapellaWith more than 25 years of experience in enrollment management, student affairs and marketing, Dr. Baworowsky has served as a vice president at a total of six institutions, a higher education consultant to a number of universities and a faculty member.

“I am excited to be joining the Dominican community,”Baworowsky said. “Dominican offers a particularly compelling student experience with excellent undergraduate and graduate education on a beautiful campus in a wonderful part of the country. I look forward to working with President Mary Marcy and the team of enrollment professionals to further the mission of the university.”

Dr. Baworowsky also has served as senior associate consultant for Noel-Levitz, the nation’s largest higher education consulting firm. His clients have included Seton Hall University (NJ), Baylor University (TX), Wheeling Jesuit University (WV), Tyndale University (Canada), Colby Sawyer College (NH), Central College (IA), Concordia University (NE), Bay Path College (MA), and the College of New Rochelle (NY).  He has taught online graduate higher education courses at Capella University, Bay Path College and the University of Florida, as well as traditional undergraduate courses at Benedictine University (IL) and North Park University.

Most recently, Dr. Baworowsky served as vice president for enrollment management and student life at The American College of Greece, the largest and oldest American-sponsored university in Europe. There he was responsible for managing the recruitment and retention of first-year, transfer, and graduate students within Greece, the United States and other countries. He also served as the chief student affairs officer, overseeing the offices of student activities, registrar, academic advising, and career services. During his tenure, he increased new student enrollments, developed an effective peer tutoring program, created new student activities and strengthened new student orientation.

As vice president for enrollment management at Hood College (MD) he worked with the admission staff to enroll the largest class in the school's history. As vice president for enrollment and academic services at Saint Louis University, Dr. Baworowsky led the institution to a 15 percent increase in first-year students and developed a more national student body. He merged the financial aid office and the bursar's office into a one-stop financial operation and brought new technologies to the admission office that increased student search response rates. He also expanded many student services including new dining options and more opportunities for study abroad, increased student tutoring and a sophomore retention program.

Dr. Baworowsky also has served as vice president for enrollment and student affairs at the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he led a 57 percent increase in new students while increasing IIT's academic profile. He was instrumental in the opening of a new student center and residence halls. Before that, he was vice president for admission and financial aid at North Park University (IL). Over a seven-year period, he played an instrumental role in North Park's 41 percent increase in first-year students and four-point increase in average ACT scores. He also has served as director of public relations at Aurora University (IL) and Benedictine University (IL).

Dr. Baworowsky earned a Ph.D. from Saint Louis University, a master's degree from the University of Miami (FL), and a bachelor’s from Loyola University of Chicago.
