Dominican, SUPINFO Open San Francisco Campus
Dominican has entered into a partnership with SUPINFO International University, France’s largest accredited higher education institute of information technology. The partnership will bring about 240 students to a new Dominican University of California/SUPINFO campus in San Francisco and eventually will enable Dominican to offer select business programs to students enrolled at SUPINFO campuses overseas.
The Paris-based SUPINFO offers a five-year degree in information technology. SUPINFO enrolls approximately 6,000 students at 33 locations in France, China, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Morocco. SUPINFO academic partners include England’s Oxford Brookes University, Scotland’s Napier University, and China’s Shandong University of Science and Technology, Hebei University of Technology, and Jiangsu University of Science and Technology.
This is SUPINFO’s first partnership with a U.S. institution.
“This partnership is an exciting opportunity for SUPINFO to enter the United States and for Dominican to expand both regionally and internationally,” Dr. Fink said. “We see enormous potential for the University to offer additional academic programs in San Francisco and to export selected programs overseas through SUPINFO’s international network of campuses.”
“This is SUPINFO’s first partnership with a U.S. institution,” said SUPINFO President Alick Mouriesse. “Students in the SUPINFO network and future U.S. candidates will have the flexibility to study and transfer each school year throughout our 33 locations.”
Beginning this November, Dominican will offer certificate programs in information technology management to third, fourth, and fifth year SUPINFO students at the new Dominican/SUPINFO San Francisco campus.
Beginning fall 2009, Dominican plans to offer a Master of Arts in Management (MAM) program with a concentration in information systems to SUPINFO students in San Francisco.
Both the certificate and graduate programs will be taught by Dominican and SUPINFO faculty. Throughout the academic year, eight faculty from Dominican’s School of Business and Leadership will teach courses focused on management, while 16 SUPINFO faculty will teach courses focused on information technology. The Dominican courses include strategic management, global cultures and management, small business management, human resources and entrepreneurship, and information technology and management.
Students participating in both the certificate and graduate program will be admitted by Dominican. Students graduating from the SUPINFO undergraduate program will receive the SUPINFO Paris degree. Students who complete the MAM Program will receive a graduate degree from both Dominican and SUPINFO.
The SUPINFO partnership is an important milestone in Dominican’s strategic objective of internationalizing business education at the University, said Dominican School of Business and Leadership Dean Luís María R. Calingo.
“SUPINFO’s campuses will provide a platform that will enable Dominican to offer certificate programs such as the Sustainable Enterprise Certificate and degree programs such as the Master of Business Administration in Sustainable Enterprise (GreenMBA), depending on their market and financial feasibility,” Dr. Calingo said.
In addition, SUPINFO will assist Dominican with international student recruitment by promoting the University’s graduate programs to existing SUPINFO students.
