New V.P. for Advancement, Alumni Engagement named

Dominican University of California President Mary B. Marcy has announced the University’s appointment of Kathleen Krueger Park as Vice President for Advancement and Alumni Engagement.

Park has more than 30 years of experience in philanthropy, alumni engagement, marketing, and communications in both higher education and the private sector. She has led major fundraising initiatives at both Oregon State University and Lewis & Clark College.

At Dominican, Park will develop strategic priorities and oversee department activities in advancement, alumni and parent relations, and communications and marketing. She will serve as a member of President Marcy’s cabinet.

“Kathy Park is a talented fundraiser and a thoughtful communicator with broad experience in both higher education and the private sector,” President Marcy said. “She has worked strategically and collaboratively to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors in order to achieve significant fundraising goals. I am delighted to welcome Kathy to Dominican and look forward to introducing her to our community.”

Park’s appointment is effective January 28, 2013.

Park joins Dominican from the Oregon State University Foundation, where she has served for almost nine years as Senior Director of Development for the university’s College of Engineering. Working closely with foundation and college leadership, she was instrumental in advancing the college’s philanthropic priorities in the university’s first ever capital campaign. To date, Park has secured more than $170 million for the College of Engineering.

From 1998-2001, Park served as Associate Vice President for Advancement at Lewis & Clark College, where she was responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing all fundraising strategies. Park achieved record-breaking contributions to the college, including raising more than $18 million in just one year, through oversight of annual fund and major gifts campaign strategies and management of corporate and foundation grant proposals.

At Lewis & Clark, Park coordinated and enhanced collaboration between advancement, alumni relations, communications, faculty, and administrative colleagues to cultivate relationships with and to improve stewardship of donors.

Park has worked previously for the Portland Opera, the Evergreen Aviation Museum, AT&T, and Sonoma County Government in Santa Rosa. As director of corporate development for James Park & Associates, she managed the successful 1994 fundraising efforts for Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber.

Park currently represents the OSU Foundation on the Advisory Board of the Oregon World Affairs Council. She received her B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Riverside and her M.A. in Urban Institutions and Systems Analysis from Claremont Graduate University.
