The Conlan Center The Conlan Center, home of Dominican intercollegiate athletics, features regulation basketball and volleyball courts, a fitness center, training room, multipurpose room, men’s and women’s locker rooms, team meeting rooms, a swimming pool and Athletics staff offices. It is an excellent facility for our students, alumni and staff plus Dominican neighbors to pursue a fit and healthy lifestyle. Dedicated in 2000 in honor of the fifth president of the University, Sister Samuel Conlan, O.P. , the Conlan Center has gained a reputation as being one of the finest small recreation facilities in Northern California. Its gymnasium is home to the Dominican basketball teams and women’s volleyball. The gymnasium is open for student use, including intramural competition. John F. Allen Athletics Complex Officially dedicated on November 2, 2012, the John F. Allen Athletics Complex is a state-of-the-art facility located on the west end of campus, adjacent to the Conlan Center. The complex, named in honor of the chair emeritus of the Dominican Board of Trustees, is anchored by a new regulation 120-by-76 yard multi-purpose synthetic turf field – named in honor of Trustee and donor Jerry Kennelly. The field is designed for the Penguins’ soccer and lacrosse teams and community use including programs that benefit under-served youth. The site encompasses Dominican’s historic amphitheater, plus a restroom/sports medicine facility. The complex also contains six new regulation tennis courts and a new parking lot with 100 available spaces. Vehicle entry into the complex is from Belle Avenue, across the street from Marin Tennis Club. Pedestrian access from campus is accessible via a foot bridge from the Conlan Center parking lot. |
