The competition was so tight, scores needed to be tallied three times to ensure there wasn’t a mistake in announcing the winners. In the end, the difference came down to the bonus question. Players were given a poster that included every “Simpsons” character ever to star or guest star on the famed Fox animated television series.

This past week’s Winners of Quiz Night were Jen Curtin, Angela Giertych, Emily Surface and Clayton Schuster, who took home the grand prize money by answering such brain-busting questions as “Name the two major rivers in Iraq,” and “Other than the sun and the moon, what are the two brightest objects in the sky?”

Glow-in-the-dark sports evolved from dodgeball to wiffleball on Tuesday night. Preparation included wrapping the bat, balls and bases in glow tape, and the main rule was if the pitcher caught the ball while a runner was off base, then the runner was ruled out.

The Conlan Center hosted more than 50 students, faculty and onlookers excited to take part in the experiment known as Glow-in-the-dark Dodgeball, in which players donned glow-in-the-dark headbands, wristbands and ankle-bands and heaved dodgeballs covered in specs of glow tape. As far as we know, this was the first time in history such a sport has been attempted in our solar system.

More than 30 Dominican students and faculty showed up to Country Club Bowl to kick off their sandals, slide into some comfy three-toned bowling shoes and battle the lanes and one another. In the end, the high score was attained by not one, but two people: Jen Curtin and Ryan Trammel, who both rolled a 189 and took home the grand prize of $20.
