Aikido Club

Aikido is a Japanese martial art created by Morihei Ueshiba, known in Aikido as O'Sensei (Great Teacher). Its has historical roots in arts such as judo and jujutsu. However, Aikido is also unique in that it emphasizes blending with the attacker's force, and striving toward a peaceful resolution to conficts.

Mission

The Mission of Dominican Aikido is to teach Aikido to Dominican University students, faculty, and staff.  Aikido is a non-violent, non-competitive Japanese martial art with a spiritual base.  Practicing Aikido helps to develop one’s self-confidence, awareness of self and of others, spatial awareness, coordination, and physical well being.
