Men's Golf concludes season at NAIA Regionals
The Dominican Men's Golf team finished their 2008 season at the NAIA Western Regionals in San Luis Obispo this week. The Penguins came in ninth place, outperforming squads from Biola and William-Jessup University. Amidst heavy winds, Cameron Sawyer, Greg Lynch and Daley Cort were all first round Medalists for Dominican with 82’s. After three rounds, Tyler Evans finished with the low for Dominican with a total of 248.
Congratulations to the whole team on the conclusion of the season.

Penguins place third in Men's Golf Cal Pac Tournament
The Dominican Men's Golf team captured 3rd place this week at the William Jessup Conference Tournament held at Whitney Oaks Golf Course, coming in ahead of conference foes William Jessup, Menlo College and Cal State Maritime.
Cal State East Bay won the tournament with a team total of 297, and Holy Names came in second with 312. Dominican's four man total was 334. Tyler Evans shot 75 to lead the Penguins once again and was tied for 5th place overall along with Les Teuteberg of East Bay. Daley Cort (pictured) shot 83 and Justin Riegler came in with 84. Greg Lynch, Cameron Sawyer and Justin Bellow filled out the team.
The next Cal Pac Conference event is at the Palo Alto Golf Club hosted by Menlo University on March 20th. Players are scheduled to tee-off at 11:00 a.m.

Men's Golf : Evans finishes in 14th at San Marcos
The Penguins of the Dominican Men's Golf Team competed this past week at the CSU San Marcos Invitational. An impressive field included over twenty schools, including NCAA Division I programs such as UCLA and Fresno State.
Despite the competition, Dominican's Tyler Evans finished tied for 14th place with rounds of 75, 76, 75. Daley Cort also had two strong rounds with 78, 75. Coach Murray was impressed by the team's performance, which was their first true competion since Winter break.
The team plays next February 28th at the William Jessup Invitational.

Dominican men set team record at Concordia
Irvine, Calif. — The Dominican University of California men's golf team had their best team performance in school history, shooting 315 at the First Annual Concordia Invitational this past week. Competing against some of the finest intercollegiate teams on the west coast, the Penguins finished a respectable 11th. Individual performances included:

- Ian Ignacio 83,88,82

Dominican men finish season
Vallejo, Calif. — The Dominican University of California men's golf team had their first California Pacific Conference Tournament at Hiddenbrooke Golf Club, hosted by CSU Maritime Academy, on Thursday afternoon. Dominican finished third out of six teams, missing a second place finish by only 13 strokes. CSU East Bay posted the lowest team score with a 302. Holy Names University placed second with a team total of 311, in front of Dominican's 324.
Tyler Evans was Dominican's medalist with a 77. Senior Daley Cort and Scotty Holdridge both shot an 83 while senior Justin Riegler rounded out the scoring with a 91. Ian Ignacio and Nate Ancheta
also participated in the tournament for Dominican.

Dominican men finish season
Indio, Calif. — The Dominican men battled through blustery conditions at Terra Lago Golf Course during the NAIA Region II Golf Tournament Monday and Tuesday but were unable to advance to the National Tournament. The men finished with a team score of 1028. Freshman CJ Vuytowec
z shot a 71 on the par 72 course in the second round, the second best individual score in the program's history. CSU San Marcos won the Region II Tournament with a team score of 912 and gains a berth to the NAIA National Tournament.

Dominican men set team record
Atherton, Calif. — The Dominican University of California men's golf team posted their best team score in school history at the 2007 Menlo Tournament with a 308 on Thursday. The score placed the Penguins in fourth place, with CSU East Bay taking the tournament with a score of 287. CJ Vuytowecz led the Penguins with a round of 74. Daley Cort was just behind with a 77 while Justin Riegler and Greg Lynch finished with 78 and 79, respectively. Ed Timmins
rounded out the scoring with 85.
The Penguins move straight to the Cal Pac Finals on April 1 to 6 at Hiddenbrooke, hosted by CSU Maritime Academy.

Play suspended at San Geronimo
San Geronimo, Calif. — Dominican's opening men's golf match was canceled on the back nine due to thunder and lightning on Monday afternoon. No makeup date has been scheduled yet. Weather permitting, the men's team will be in action on February 21 at Monarch Bay in San Leandro. Holy Names University will host the match.

Dominican Golf Program announces rosters, schedules
San Rafael, Calif. — Dominican University of California head golf coach Jon Delano announced the rosters and schedules for the upcoming 2007 season today. Delano, in his first year as golf coach, has 11 players on this season's men's golf squad and has more than doubled the women's squad, who now has seven. Returners for the men include juniors Jeremy Boucher, Daley Cort, and Greg Lynch, who have all been on the squad since the golf program's inception in 2005. On the women's side, Bianca Gabriel, Michelle Mitra, and Taylor Welty are all veterans who have been with the program for all three years. New faces for Dominican golf include freshman Cory Simon and Charles John Vuytowecz on the men's side and sophomore Kelli Corlett, who also plays soccer for Delano, on the women's side. Dominican Men's Golf Team recognized as 2006 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Team
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the 2006 Daktronics-NAIA All-America Scholar Athletes. Student-Athletes must be nominated by their head coach, be a junior or above in academic standing, and maintain a 3.5 or higher cumulateve GPA. Those Dominican University of California athletes awarded this honor for the 2006 season are senior Christina Puentes (Women’s Softball), junior Ashley Wells (Women’s Tennis), and the Men’s Golf Team.
Five members of the Men’s Golf team combined for a 3.42 GPA. Those members are sophomores Jeremy Boucher, Daley Cort, Greg Lynch, Cameron Sawyer, and junior David Wright. The men’s golf team finished fourth in the California Pacific Conference.
The Dominican program had 11 student-athletes and 1 team awarded the title of NAIA Scholar-Athlete for the 2005-2006 season.

Dominican announces hiring of new Golf Head Coach
Jon Delano, who was recently hired as the Men's and Women's Soccer Assistant Coach, has also been hired as the Head Coach of the Men's and Women's Golf teams. Delano attended Dominican and has coached numerous soccer clubs as well as worked at McInnis Park in San Rafael. Delano replaces Cheryl Lala, who departed this year after starting the Dominican Golf program in 2005. Assistant Athletic Dirctor and Head Soccer Coach John Brooks, who works alongside Delano on the soccer field said, "We're really excited to have Jon on board, he has the opportunity to raise the Golf program to new heights."

The Dominican men's Golf team finished their season fourth in the California Pacific Conference with 318 points. Daley CortGreg Lynch finished tied for 17th with a 79. Ed Timmins finished a point behind Lynch. Jeremy Boucher tied for 24th with an 82. David Wright scored an 82 and Justin Riegler had a round of 93. finished with a 77, tied for 13th, in the Cal Pac Tournament at Monarch Bay, hosted by CSU East Bay.

The Sonoma State University Golf Invitational will be held Monday and Tuesday April 3rd and 4th. Due to heavy rains in the North Bay, the tournament has been moved from its original site (Santa Rosa Golf & Country Club). The current plan is to play 36 holes on Monday at Adobe Creek Golf Club in Petaluma before concluding the tournament with 18 holes on Tuesday at Foxtail Golf Club in Rohnert Park.
