It Just Keeps Getting Better

Rizza - Wednesday July 2, 2008 - Itʼs been a month since I came to New York and I love every minute of it. A lot has happened since Iʼve blogged and Iʼm super excited to see what the future will be like after my summer in New York. One thing to note about me is that I love meeting new people all the time. I feel blessed because New York has been so kind to me.

By just being at the right time and talking to the right people, I now am part of a health and wellness company with so much potential to expand and succeed.  Fortunately, my internship schedule worked out for me so that after lab I can go to training for my new part time job.  In mid August I will be traveling with my company to Las Vegas for three days for a convention where I will finally meet our founding president and also meet other members of the company from all over the nation.  Iʼm super excited to be working with them and Iʼm already on my way to a promotion! Iʼve learned early on to be spontaneous and take advantage of the opportunities in front of me and so doing all this is very exciting for me!  Of course, this is only going to be a part time job.  Iʼm just happy to begin a new chapter in my life.

As for my internship, my lab project with fusing two embryonic stem cells is moving along great.  Again, I am very fortunate to have such a wonderful mentor because he has taught me a lot of proper lab techniques and procedures that will be very useful with my labs at Dominican.  I am in the process of fusing the two embryonic stem cells and viewing the results on a multi-million dollar microscope.  Whatʼs also really cool is that my mentor offered me to work with him again next summer if I have nothing else fun to do during the summer.  Itʼs nice to know that I have options after I graduate.

As for the social life, Iʼm a professional at taking the subway station and so I know how to get my way around now! Just a couple of days ago I along with my new business colleagues went to this up-scale Korean longue that had private karaoke room on each floor.  Being Filipino, singing karaoke is second nature for us!  As we were partying the night away I couldnʼt help but look at the breath-taking view of Manhattan... Just when I thought life couldnʼt get any better, it does.
