Home Again and Busy As Ever!
Elizabeth - Friday, June 27 2008 - I’m home from both my trips and had an amazing time on both of them! Europe was a blast and I would love to go back soon! London, Paris and Rome were all really interesting cities, and it was so much fun to see all the famous sights that I’d only seen pictures of before. We rode double-decker busses, went to the top of the Eiffel Tower, visited the Louvre, took a cruise down the River Seine and went to Vatican City and St. Peter’s Basilica.
Traveling with two friends made the trip even more fun! There were people from all over the country in our tour group and we had so much fun getting to know everyone and hanging out with new friends.
My cruise to Alaska was also a ton of fun! We left from Vancouver and sailed up through the Inside Passage. The scenery was beautiful, and the glacier was very impressive. We saw a ton of wildlife like bald eagles, whales, bears and even a few porcupines! I had a lot of fun hanging out with my cousins and sister! My favorite port was Juneau because my mom, sister, uncle and I went zip lining. It was a little scary at first, especially when they told us to step off of the little platform like it was something you do every day. Once I got the hang of it, it was so much fun! It’s not every day that you get to fly through the treetops in Alaska, then walk across a suspension bridge!
In between those two trips, I got to see Kenny Chesney in concert! He’s one of my favorite artists, so I was super excited to be able to go see him perform. The Poets and Pirates tour also included Luke Bryan, Gary Allan, LeAnn Rimes and Brooks and Dunn. They were all amazing! The following day, KRTY hosted a benefit concert for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer with The Lost Trailers, Emily West and Luke Bryan. Working for the radio station allowed me to meet and hang out with all of those artists. It was so much fun!! The Lost Trailers even invited all of the KRTY staff up on stage with them! I’m really excited for the next few concerts—KRTY brings a lot of new artists to San Jose, and the next two concerts at Club Rodeo are going to be the Zac Brown Band and Heidi Newfield. I’m also looking forward to seeing Jason Aldean and Emerson Drive at the end of the summer!
My final bit of exciting news is that I had an interview this morning with the San Francisco 49ers for a marketing internship during Training Camp! I’ve worked as a Training Camp Assistant for the past two years, and am super excited for a potential internship. The interview went pretty well, and I’m supposed to hear back tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed for me! If I get it, this will be my second internship this summer, so I’m going to be really busy, but I’m so excited for the opportunity!
I hope your summer is going great and I’ll write again soon! J
