Exams, Easter, Elections--Alliteration?

David-Tuesday, March 25, 2008- What happened this Easter weeken? How is the election process going? And what about those intense exams!

Well, the semester is beginning to become harder each week. For those of you who do not know, Dominican is approaching the 2/3rd's mark where students are frantically getting nervous about finals. Right now, most of my classes are giving out exams right before the final. Next week, I have another week filled with exams in Organic Chemistry, Animal Physiology, and another (but last) presentation in Prayer and Meditation.

My nephew back at home had his 2nd birthday last week and since I am in school, this was my second time missing it. I can not wait to actually spend a birthday with him because he is growing up so fast! Before I know it, he's going to be enrolled into school and maybe be in my class! (Well, that won't occur until high school but...the thought of it really scares me!)
Since it was Easter weekend, there were many students who were on campus and I really felt bad for us who were stuck here because Easter is a time to gather with the family and to be stuck at school can be quite depressing. So, I and other students threw a BBQ on the library lawn. For only one day of advertisement, we had over 50+ students attend this sporadic event.  We cooked so many hamburgers that we ran out of buns! But luckily, that didn't happen until the end of the event.  It was fun and the weather couldn't have been any better. I can not wait to have another BBQ in two weeks!

Elections are slowly creeping up and I am really preparing every night for my platform. I am not going to disclose more information on that just yet since I want to be sure my ideas are not being replicated by other candidates.  But, as of now, I am really putting the foot on the pedal and ready for the ride.  Right now, I am in the process of working things out with supporters and hopefully will see more and more support as the days go by.

Penguin Ball is becoming a nerve racking event right now because we have only sold 250 tickets out of the 500 we need to have this event.  Students really want to participate but for some reason, not everyone is buying tickets. I think right now, ASDU members really need to take charge in understanding why students are not buying tickets. This year's Penguin Ball will be one to remember because we actually rented the whole boat and we will be having a casino night for students.   I hope this event happens because I would hate to see students disappointed if it becomes cancelled.

This Friday, we will be having our bi weekly dances and bringing back the mechanical bull! Students really wanted to see this attraction returned and since our dance is theme "Cowboys and Cowgirls" it was only appropriate to being the bull back this Friday.
Well, I have to get back to working on my poster for NCUR. I leave in 2 weeks for Maryland to present my research.  I am really excited because this will be my first time traveling across country! Yay!
Have a wonderful week and until then, take care!
