2008-2009 ASDU Elections, NCUR 22
David-Tuesday, April 22, 2008- ASDU Election, talking about debate, voting issues then go onto speaking about NCUR 22.
Well, it's been a month since I last updated this blog and I have great excuses for my absence! I hope you all didn't miss me too much! To begin my blog, I have been so pressured with life right now which hasn't given me enough time in the day to complete all my daily task. However, with many issues clearing up, I am able to sit down and talk to you about my past month events.
First off, the 2008-2009 ASDU elections will conclude at midnight and by tomorrow, Dominican University of California will have a president elect! As some of you know, I am one of the candidates and I must say, this has been one of the most demanding elections I have ever entered. Before I left to Maryland, I was freaking out about loosing so many days of election time however, I was able to promote myself through a face book group and my you tube videos. To add a new tradition here at Dominican, this year we had a presidential debate and it was a great crowd! We had students from all different social areas of Dominican attend this debate. It was amazing to see so many students packed into the Student Union and really paying attention to what my opponent and I had to say. I am looking forward to holding such an event next year for the presidential candidates.
Now, today is the day. Today I will find out my fate of being DU of C's next Student Body President. I am nervous but whatever the outcome is, I will continue to be very active on Dominican's campus.
NCUR 22 was held in Salisbury, Maryland. A bunch of Dominican students traveled across country to attend this prestigious conference. We had approx 30 students from majoring including: biology, business, history, and nursing. It was a fun experience for me because I have never left the state of California before. It was a painful ride there since I am afraid of flying but my friends we surrounded by me and it made time fly fast! (No joke intended there :-D) At Salisbury University, I felt different entering their campus. I mean, it was a beautiful campus with nice brick buildings but it was too much of a college atmosphere for me. I felt it was a very competitive environment where nobody really paid attention to you. It really made me appreciate Dominican's wooded acre campus. Also, many students who attended Dominican's NCUR last year continued to remind us of how much fun they had compared to Salisbury. It really felt good to know that visitors to our campus enjoyed NCUR when it was hosted here at DU. Everyone at DU assisted with this conference and I believe that's the reason why we had such a great success! When we weren't presenting, a lot of us went out to eat and hung out at the hotel. It was such a great bonding experience for us and I am really looking forward of traveling to Wisconsin next year.
Well, that's all I have to say for now. Until then, have a great day!
PS I will post what happens with elections sometime soon! I hope next time I write this blog to you, I will be the next DU president.
