Bahia Vista Elementary/S.N.A.P After-school program

Bahia Vista School is dedicated to educating each child in a safe, enriching environment that respects individual and cultural differences while helping students achieve mastery of California grade level standards.

Canal Alliance

Canal Alliance offers services to the people of The Canal area in an effort to deal with the poverty and the influx of many new arrivals who need help with basic necessities. The after school program provides mentors and tutors for the participants as well as a safe place to have fun.

Role models and tutors are needed for the after school program.There is also a need for ESL tutors and for administrative support. Volunteers who can speak a second language are always needed. 

Populations Served: Low-income members of The Canal neighborhood in San Rafael.

Cedars of Marin

In 1919, The Cedars of Marin began as a school for children with special needs and has since evolved into a nationally recognized residential and day programming community for adults with developmental disabilities. A full continuum of care is provided in an environment where personal choice is encouraged and all achievements are celebrated. The Cedars’ exceptional staff is dedicated to fostering independence, defending dignity, and realizing each person’s full potential.

Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy

Homeward Bound

Homeward Bound provides necessary and invaluable resources to the homeless of Marin in the effort to help people reestablish their own homes and lives. It has facilities established for emergency housing and transitional housing for singles and families with children. There is also an organic garden at its facility in Novato.

Students are needed as companions, mentors, baby-sitters, tutors, event organizers and with administrative and fund raising work. Students have an opportunity to make a positive impact on a population that is often overlooked.

Populations Served: Families and single adults who are homeless.

Huckleberry Wellness Academy

The Huckleberry Wellness Academy-Marin provides training in health education, internship placements in health care settings, academic preparation and tutoring, exposure to health professions, parent support and education, case management, and individual and family counseling.
