Wireless

Dominican has wireless networks available for faculty, staff and student use.  To use the wireless network you will need a Dominican User ID and password.  To get an ID you will have to stop by the IT Department in the library.

Wireless Network Cards

Any 802.11b wireless adapter will work. Make sure that whatever card you decide to purchase has the "WiFi" logo, certifying compliance with the industry standards. Comp USA located at 655 Irwin Street in San Rafael has a wide variety of wireless adapters for laptop computers.  To install the adapter on your computer, follow the manufacturer's instructions that are included with the product.

Troubleshooting

After you have installed your wireless card, your computer should automatically detect the wireless access point when you boot up. If it does not recognize the wireless access point you may be out of range or you may need to refresh the connection.

1. Go to the START menu

2. Select SETTINGS

3. Select NETWORK CONNECTION

4. Click the WIRELESS NETWORK CONNECTION icon

5. In the Wireless Network Connection dialog box, click the tab labeled WIRELESS NETWORK CONNECTION

6. Click the REFRESH button.

7. You will be prompted to enter a valid Dominican account username and password.
