This is an introduction to the Library's resources focusing on the needs of the new graduate student. This workshop will cover the ins and outs of finding materials in the Library using the online catalog, the journal list, the subject guides, and interlibrary loan.
Getting the Most out of Google

This is a class that will show you how to get the most out of your Google searches. You'll learn advanced searching techniques that will give you more relevant results from your searches. Items covered will include: site searches, filetype searches, using +, -, ~ and more.
We'll also introduce you to Google Scholar for more scholarly results and as a back door to searching some of the Library's databases.
An Introduction to Databases and Advanced Web Searches

This is an introduction to the Library's electronic resources focusing on the needs of the new graduate student. This workshop will cover database basics, putting together a good search, some advanced tips and shortcuts to make your searching quicker and easier. Time permitting the workshop will also delve into Google Scholar and getting the most out of your web searches.
An Introduction to RefWorks
Wednesday, October 21st
4 - 5 pm

This in an introduction to RefWorks, the personal online citation database. RefWorks will help you to organize your research, share material, create in-text citations, and help write your bibliographies. This is a fantastic time saving and organization tool for graduate students, especially when it comes time to write your thesis.
