Dr. Ramsey was recruited by Dominican in 1996 to develop the occupational therapy program and has since grown it to over 150 majors in two tracks; transitioned it to a graduate program; and led it through three successful national accreditations. She believes that chairing the department is a creative process similar to writing a symphony or creating a quilt whereby you start with a vision; have the right people working with you, and ensure the curriculum is fully integrated into a coherent, cohesive whole. She is passionate about recruiting the best students; mentoring faculty; creating courses; and developing community partnerships to promote health and wellness for all, regardless of age or ability level.
Dr. Ramsey is active in professional occupational therapy organizations; has served on the Commission on Practice for the American Occupational Therapy Association; and sees an exciting future for occupational therapy as a full participant in national and state-level health care reform efforts. Her leisure activities include traveling, gardening, reading, hiking, and visiting art museums.
